Plasters lends texture, depth, and dimension to any room, and the feel of plaster adds a natural, organic touch to its surfaces. The creation of both classic and modern decorative finishes is easy with Texture Effects from our Decorative Painter’s product line. The water base plaster is tintable, readily sandable when dry, and endlessly versatile. Let’s take a look at a few beautiful projects!
A rustic and elegant farmhouse style aged plaster finish was textured onto a kitchen range hood by decorative artisans Bella House Faux. The matte, mottled finish gives a seamless timeworn appearance.
Using Texture Effects to create a faux grey brick finish, Shawn Reeder of Organic Finishes brought the perfect treatment to an industrial style home office loft. Our Dead Flat Varnish help give a final matte finish to the large lettering and brickwork. Amazing!
A bowling ball makes quite the starting point for this intriguing garden accent! Artist Allyce Lees used both Texture Effects to create the raised relief stenciling and finished with the Metal Effects Rust Patina. Mother Nature takes care to keep evolving its look!
Shawn Reeder of Organic Finishes custom tinted Texture Effects in various shades of khaki, brown, green, and grey to create a multi-hued smooth and abstract plaster finish. One tip he shares is to thin the Texture Effects with water for a more subtle coat during the troweled layers. Shawn shares that the finish proved a show-stopper and he still receives compliments on it to this day.
A little interest is added to plain terracotta pots with lightly tinted Texture Effects sponged onto to the surface. Let dry and voila! The charmingly rustic project is by Danielle of Finding Silver Pennies.
Embossed lettering is also possible with the Texture Effects and helped create a DIY Keepsake Lettered Canvas by Debbie Hayes. Our Pearl Metallic Paint was used to paint the canvas first and then the Texture Effects was troweled with a palette knife over a custom vinyl stencil printed with the chosen quote. Perfect for Valentine’s Day!
Are you buzzing with ideas with Texture Effects? Texture Effects can also be used to fill existing textures (orange peel and knock-down) and correct wall imperfections without shrinking or cracking during the drying process. It is self-priming and tintable, eliminating extra steps in the finish. It is also self-sealing, so once dry, it can be over-glazed without the worry of it absorbing the glaze.
