Measure the pumpkin from the stem base to the bottom. Using this measurement, cut the decorative chain into sections. Using the hot glue gun, place a small bead of glue at the stem base and apply one end of the chain to the area while the glue is hot. Repeat all the way around the top of the pumpkin. Do this again for the bottom section of the pumpkin.

Dixie cups are perfect as they can hold the eyeballs as you work on them and they also make a great drying stand. Paint all the balls you’d like to work on with the Ultra Spec Super White and use the Dixie cups to help you.

Once dry, decide which balls will be the cat’s eyes and which will be zombie eyes and follow the individual instructions below.

Using a 2″ brush, prime the pumpkin completely with a bonding acrylic primer. Once dry, paint the pumpkin and the stem with several coats of Black Pearl Metallic Paint until you have opaque coverage. Let dry.

Position the stencil on the pumpkin in a pleasing fashion. Use delicate painters tape to attach the bottom and top of the stencil to the pumpkin. Dip the stencil brush in the Sashay Red Metallic Paint and dab onto a paper towel to remove excess paint. The stencil brush should be mostly dry with no dripping paint on it as this will keep the Sashay Red Metallic Paint from seeping under the stencil. Next, stencil on the Sashay Red using a pouncing or stippling motion, pressing the stencil against the surface as you move down the surface. Let dry. Be sure to paint the stem the same Sashay Red for a punch of contrast!

Using the hot glue gun and glue sticks, place a small bead of glue (about the size of a pencil eraser) in the recess of the pumpkin. Apply the bead while the glue is still hot and hold until it holds itself. Continue the process within every recess until complete. Voilá!

Using a damp sea sponge that has wrung out, dab on two medium to heavy layers of Crackle for Latex Paint onto the black pumpkin, leaving some of the recessed areas of the pumpkin untouched. Start first with the top half and do the bottom next. Let dry 30 minutes between layers.

When the second layer is dry, apply a heavy layer of the Platinum/Silver Matte Metallic Paint to the bottom half of the surface where the Crackle for Latex Paint has been applied. Let completely dry, about 2 hours.
