We’re proud to feature Nena Sexton of NCF Studio of Decorative Art in Houston, Texas, one of the elite Modern Masters Platinum Training Centers! We had a chance to catch up with Nena and find out a bit about her studio and how Modern Masters has impacted her artistry. The results are simply amazing!
Nena started her finishing career by learning from the masters, taking classes throughout the nation and working with local artists to pick up lessons of the trade. After several years of training, she had the opportunity to work with some of the top designers in Houston. She has had many projects published in magazines around Texas and several have won ASID awards!
For the last 10 years, Nena has run NCF Studio of Decorative Art, a decorative finishing company specializing in fine decorative finishes for both the residential and commercial markets. From early stages of construction to the completed project, NCF is dedicated to meeting the expectations of their clients.
Five years ago, Nena had the opportunity to open a Platinum Training Center for Modern Masters. She offers classes in decorative finishing for walls, ceilings, cabinetry and furniture utilizing Modern Masters products. NCF Studio of Decorative Arts is committed to using the latest “Green” or environmentally safe products and continue to use low to no VOC products in both their teaching studio and contracted projects.

How long have you been using Modern Masters products?
I have been using Modern Masters products since I started my career as a decorative finisher in September of 2003. I like the fact that Modern Masters keeps adding new products to their line and I continue to look forward to the next addition.

Do you have a personal favorite Modern Masters product and/or finish?
One of my favorite products from the Modern Masters line is the Metallic Plaster. I love the many colors that are available. These colors give me the opportunity to create any palette I desire to work with. The Metallic Plaster is a very diversified product. I can can use it to create sleek contemporary finishes, old world finishes and even French style finishes. I can leave it smooth and compressed to a shimmery metallic look or I can use it with other products like glazes in order to create a more intricate finish. This plaster is a very user friendly product that anyone can use and the finishes that can be achieved will make anyone look like a pro.
This beautiful finish was achieved with Modern Masters Metallic Plaster, Tinted Troweling Gel and Glazes.
